It's a bit of a cliché, but XCOM is not for everybody. The randomness of the hit system can throw people off and management can be overwhelming unless you get your shit together really early in the game. I'm seasoned as fuck (like, 486 X-Com grade) and I still got rolfstomped a few times in XCOM 2.
